You are at a train station, bus terminal, movie theater, or museum in Korea. The counter is busy, but a ticket kiosk is waiting right in front of you.
The machine may look intimidating because the screen changes quickly. But many kiosks use the same small group of words: choose, reserve, pick up, pay, print, and cancel.
This guide gives you the Korean words that help you understand the screen before you panic-tap the wrong button.
First, know what kind of ticket you are getting
A kiosk may use different words depending on the place. At a train station, you may see 승차권. At a museum or theater, you may see 입장권 or 티켓.

Reservation and pickup are not the same button
This is one of the most useful differences. If you already bought a ticket online, look for 발권 or 예매 확인. If you are buying now, look for 구매 or 예매.

Choosing time, place, and number of people
After you choose the service, the kiosk usually asks when you want to go and how many tickets you need. For transportation, you may also choose departure and arrival points.

Seat words that appear on many screens
If the ticket has assigned seats, the machine may ask you to choose a seat. You do not need every seat-related word, but these make the screen much easier to read.

If the machine stops or your booking does not appear
Kiosks are convenient until something goes wrong. If your reservation does not show up or the payment fails, asking a staff member is completely normal.

If you remember only six words, remember 예매, 발권, 확인, 매수, 좌석, and 결제. They tell you whether you are booking, picking up, confirming, choosing the number of tickets, choosing a seat, or paying.
Once those words feel familiar, a Korean ticket kiosk becomes less like a wall of buttons and more like a short checklist you can move through one screen at a time.
