Unmanned shops are common in Korea, especially in neighborhoods and near apartments. They are usually simple to use, but the signs and machine words matter.

First, recognize the word 무인
무인 means unmanned or staff-free. It does not mean nobody manages the shop. It means the customer usually handles the process through a kiosk, payment machine, or self-checkout system.
Entry and security signs
Some unmanned shops are open from the street. Others may ask you to tap a card, scan a QR code, or follow a simple entry step. You may also see CCTV notices.
Choosing and paying for items
The main flow is usually the same: choose the item, scan the barcode, check the amount, and pay by card or app. If the machine has an English button, it may be near the first screen.
