When a Korean courier calls about a regular parcel, listen for the problem and give one clear location: 문 앞에 놓아 주세요 ("Please leave it at the door"), 경비실에 맡겨 주세요 ("Please leave it at the security office"), or 제가 내려갈게요 ("I'll come down"). If you cannot follow the call, say 문자로 보내 주세요 ("Please send it by text").
What you may hear
Natural meaning
택배 기사인데요
This is the parcel courier.
집에 계세요?
Are you home?
공동현관 비밀번호가 안 돼요
The building entrance code does not work.
어디에 놓을까요?
Where should I leave it?
문 앞에 놓아도 될까요?
May I leave it at the door?
제가 내려갈게요
I'll come down.
This guide is for 택배, a regular parcel. A restaurant order and food-delivery rider are handled in the separate food-delivery guide.

Recognize the courier's opening

A call may begin:
안녕하세요. 택배 기사인데요.
Hello, this is the parcel courier.
In faster speech, 택배 기사인데요 may sound like 택밴데요. You may not hear every syllable, but 택배, your name, address, building number, or unit number usually reveals the purpose.
Korean word
Meaning
택배
parcel delivery
기사
driver/courier
배송
delivery
주소
address
공동현관
shared building entrance
경비실
security office
무인택배함
unmanned parcel locker
문 앞
in front of the door
Answer 네, 말씀하세요 ("Yes, go ahead") if you are ready to listen. If the call comes at an unsafe moment, ask for a text rather than trying to solve it while walking through traffic or handling another task.

Questions the courier may ask

Are you home?

지금 집에 계세요?
Are you home now?
Possible replies:
Korean
Meaning
네, 집에 있어요.
Yes, I'm home.
지금 집에 없어요.
I'm not home now.
10분 후에 도착해요.
I'll arrive in 10 minutes.
문 앞에 놓아 주세요.
Please leave it at the door.
계세요? is the polite form of "Are you there?" or "Are you at home?" It does not necessarily mean the courier wants you to meet face to face; the next question tells you what is needed.

Which building and unit?

몇 동 몇 호세요?
What building and unit are you in?
Reply:
101동 502호예요.
It's Building 101, Unit 502.
In an apartment complex, 동 identifies the building and 호 identifies the unit. Do not confuse 5층 (fifth floor) with 502호 (Unit 502).
If the courier has the wrong place:
여기는 101동이 아니라 102동이에요.
This is Building 102, not Building 101.
주소가 다른 것 같아요.
I think the address is different.

How do I enter the building?

공동현관은 어떻게 들어가요?
How do I enter the shared building entrance?
공동현관 비밀번호가 안 돼요.
The building entrance passcode does not work.
Safe, practical replies:
Korean
Meaning
호출 버튼을 눌러 주세요.
Please press the Call button.
경비실에 말씀해 주세요.
Please speak to the security office.
제가 내려갈게요.
I'll come down.
공동현관 비밀번호는 문자로 보낼게요.
I'll send the building code by text.
Share only the access information authorized by the host or property. Do not give a private unit-door passcode when the courier only needs the shared entrance.

Where should I leave it?

어디에 놓을까요?
Where should I leave it?
경비실에 맡길까요?
Shall I leave it at the security office?
Choose one location:
Korean reply
Meaning
문 앞에 놓아 주세요.
Please leave it at the door.
경비실에 맡겨 주세요.
Please leave it at the security office.
로비에 놓아 주세요.
Please leave it in the lobby.
무인택배함에 넣어 주세요.
Please put it in the parcel locker.
제가 직접 받을게요.
I'll receive it in person.
놓다 means to put or leave something in a place. 맡기다 means to leave something in another person's care, which fits 경비실에 맡기다.

Ask the courier to repeat or slow down

Korean
Meaning
죄송하지만 다시 말씀해 주세요.
Sorry, but please say that again.
조금 천천히 말씀해 주세요.
Please speak a little more slowly.
어디라고 하셨어요?
Where did you say?
몇 동이라고 하셨어요?
What building number did you say?
문자로 보내 주실 수 있어요?
Could you send it by text?
If you recognize only 공동현관, confirm the issue:
공동현관에 못 들어오신 거예요?
Are you unable to enter the building?
If you recognize only 문 앞, confirm the location:
문 앞에 놓으신다는 말씀이세요?
Do you mean you will leave it at the door?
These yes-or-no checks are easier than asking the courier to restart the whole call.

Switch from a call to a text

Say:
한국어 통화가 어려워요. 문자로 보내 주세요.
Korean phone calls are difficult for me. Please send a text.
Then send a concise instruction:
안녕하세요. 101동 502호입니다. 택배는 문 앞에 놓아 주세요. 감사합니다.
Hello. This is Building 101, Unit 502. Please leave the parcel at the door. Thank you.
Or:
공동현관 출입이 안 되면 전화해 주세요. 제가 내려갈게요.
If you cannot enter the building, please call me. I'll come down.
Do not send more personal information than the delivery requires.

If the call is not for your parcel

Confirm before giving access information:
Korean
Meaning
받는 사람 이름이 뭐예요?
What is the recipient's name?
어느 주소로 온 택배예요?
What address is the parcel for?
저는 주문한 택배가 없어요.
I don't have a parcel I ordered.
잘못 전화하신 것 같아요.
I think you called the wrong number.
If the caller's information does not match, do not share a building code. Check your order app or official carrier notification, or contact the property using a known number.

If the parcel was already left somewhere

You may hear:
Korean
Meaning
문 앞에 놓고 갈게요.
I'll leave it at the door.
경비실에 맡겼어요.
I left it at the security office.
택배함에 넣었어요.
I put it in the parcel locker.
배송 사진 보내 드릴게요.
I'll send you the delivery photo.
문자 확인해 주세요.
Please check the text message.
Reply:
네, 확인할게요. 감사합니다.
Okay, I'll check. Thank you.
놓고 갈게요 literally carries the idea "I'll leave it and go." In a delivery call, it signals the parcel will be dropped at the named location.

A complete call

기사: 안녕하세요. 택배 기사인데요. 지금 집에 계세요?
여행자: 지금 집에 없어요. 문 앞에 놓아 주세요.
기사: 공동현관 비밀번호가 안 되는데요.
여행자: 그러면 경비실에 맡겨 주세요.
기사: 네, 알겠습니다.
여행자: 감사합니다.
The traveler understands the first location will not work and gives a second one. One clear instruction solves the call.

The four replies to remember

문 앞에 놓아 주세요.
Please leave it at the door.
경비실에 맡겨 주세요.
Please leave it at the security office.
제가 내려갈게요.
I'll come down.
문자로 보내 주세요.
Please send it by text.
Listen for where the courier is, what blocks access, and where the parcel should go. You do not need a long conversation; you need one accurate location and a safe next action.
