You land at Incheon, turn on your phone, and see no signal. The SIM or eSIM counter is right past baggage claim, but the staff speaks fast and the menu of plans is confusing. These are the words that get you connected in five minutes.
Say What You Need First
Counters usually ask this before anything else.

If you only plan to use messaging apps and maps, 데이터만요 is enough. Say 통화도 필요해요 only if you want a working Korean phone number for calls, since that plan usually costs more.

A passport is required for a physical SIM and for any eSIM plan that includes calls, so keep it out before you reach the counter. A data-only eSIM usually skips this step. 어떤 폰 쓰세요? matters because not every phone supports eSIM, and staff need to confirm before selling you one.
Answering "How Many Days"
Trip length decides the plan, so numbers plus 일 (day) come up immediately.

삼 일이요 and 오 일이요 use the Sino-Korean set, the same one used for prices, so 삼 and 오 sound the same here as they do on a receipt. 열흘 is the odd one out: it uses Korea's separate native day-counting words instead, the same set as 하루 (one day).
Picking Up a Pre-Ordered eSIM
Many travelers buy an eSIM online before the flight and only need to activate it on arrival.

예약했어요 signals that you already paid online, so staff will look up your order instead of starting a new sale. Keep the confirmation email open on your phone; most eSIM providers send the QR code there instead of a printed slip.
Checking Your Connection Before You Leave the Counter
Test the signal while a staff member is still there to help.

If 인터넷이 안 돼요 happens, restarting the phone (재부팅) fixes most activation delays. Say this before you walk away from the counter, since re-activation is far easier with staff standing next to you than over the phone later.
Once the signal bars appear, open Naver Map or KakaoTaxi and the rest of the trip runs the way it was supposed to from the moment you landed.
