Taking a taxi in Korea is usually simple, but there are moments when you need one clear Korean sentence. You may want the driver to stop here, wait a moment, or take a slightly different way.

These phrases are short, polite, and practical for travel.

## Please stop here

여기서 세워 주세요 — yeogiseo sewo juseyo — Please stop here.

Use this when you are close to your destination and want the driver to pull over.

Other useful phrases:

저기 앞에서 세워 주세요 — Please stop up there.

조금만 더 가 주세요 — Please go a little farther.

여기 괜찮아요 — Here is okay.

Sometimes the taxi cannot stop exactly in front of the building because of traffic or road rules. If nearby is fine, say 네, 여기 괜찮아요.

## Please wait a moment

잠깐만 기다려 주세요 — jamkkanman gidaryeo juseyo — Please wait a moment.

Use this if your friend is coming out, you need to check something quickly, or you are picking something up.

You can also say:

1분만 기다려 주세요 — Please wait just one minute.

친구가 오고 있어요 — My friend is coming.

금방 올게요 — I will be right back.

Waiting may add to the fare, and drivers may not always be able to wait in busy areas. If they cannot wait, it is usually because of the road situation, not personal rudeness.

## Please go this way

이쪽으로 가 주세요 — ijjogeuro ga juseyo — Please go this way.

This is useful when you are pointing, showing a map, or guiding the driver near small streets.

오른쪽으로 가 주세요 — Please go to the right.

왼쪽으로 가 주세요 — Please go to the left.

직진해 주세요 — Please go straight.

지도대로 가 주세요 — Please follow the map.

If you are nervous, show your phone map and use one short phrase. Taxi communication often works through a mix of short Korean, pointing, and location names.

## A simple taxi script

저기 앞에서 세워 주세요 — Please stop up there.

네, 여기 괜찮아요 — Yes, here is okay.

잠깐만 기다려 주세요. 친구가 오고 있어요 — Please wait a moment. My friend is coming.

These are not long sentences, but they are enough for many taxi situations.

## Your taxi survival set

Remember these three first:

여기서 세워 주세요 — Please stop here.

잠깐만 기다려 주세요 — Please wait a moment.

이쪽으로 가 주세요 — Please go this way.

They help you handle the most common "almost there" moments in a Korean taxi without needing advanced Korean.
